Operation Passage to Freedom, October 1954

Vietnamese refugees board LST 516 for their journey from Haiphong, North Vietnam, to Saigon, South Vietnam during Operation Passage to Freedom, October 1954. This operation evacuated thousands of Vietnamese refugees from the then newly created Communist North Vietnam to the Democratic South Vietnam. By the end of the operation, the Navy had carried to freedom more then 293,000 immigrants, vehicles, and other cargo. The Naval Historical Center and Surface Navy Association are seeking Navy veterans and former Vietnamese refugees who witnessed and participated in this little known rescue. U.S. Navy photo.   1. Kichbu vào thư viện ở Nga và nhìn thấy trong một albom ảnh của phóng viên chiến tranh Nhật Bản có một bức hình 30 nửa vỏ bom bi mẹ.
    Trên mõi nửa các vỏ bom bi ấy ghi dòng chữ: "TẤT CẢ ĐỂ ĐÁNH THẮNG GIẶC MỸ XÂM LƯỢC!".
    Chỉ còn nhớ hình như bức ảnh được chụp tại Đồng Hới-Quảng Bình năm 1972.

  2. Du kích và Quân giải phóng Miền Nam nói riêng, QĐNDVN nói chung có truyền thống lấy vũ khí địch đánh địch.

    Bom chưa nổ, đạn pháo xịt vẫn được Du kích và Quân giải phóng Miền Nam thu thập và tái sử dụng để đánh Mỹ, nhưng ít có ghi gì lên vỏ.

    Ngày ấy và cho đến bây giờ, vỏ bom vẫn còn được dùng làm kẻng, ở miền Bắc hồi chiến tranh, khẩu hiệu trên được ghi khắp nơi, trên mọi chất liệu, nhân dân Đồng Hới đã ghi những dòng chữ đó lên những vỏ bom mà Mỹ ném xuống Quảng Bình cũng là chuyện bình thường.

  3. Kichbu cũng biết đội mũ rơm zoài. "Nào bạn ơi nhanh tay ta têt́ mũ rơm...
    Chiếc mũ rơm, tránh máy bay để em chống Mỹ..."

  4. Kể cho kichbu chuyện nhỏ này, cho đến những năm 1997-1999, mỗi lần đi qua đèo Hải Vân, không biết kichbu có đi qua đó chưa, tớ thấy dòng chữ màu trắng rất to trên vách núi, kichbu biết dòng chữ gì không?

  6. Chữ đó là "TOÀN DÂN DIỆT CỘNG" kichbu ạ, khoản sau năm 1999 thì mình không đi qua đó nữa không biết giờ còn không, mà ở đỉnh đèo không nhìn thấy, chỉ thấy khi leo quá nửa đèo từ phía Nam ra, trên 1 vách núi.
